UCR fees for 2026: what every interstate carrier owes
The Unified Carrier Registration fee is annual, federal, and depends only on how many commercial motor vehicles you operate. For the 2026 registration year it runs from $46 for a one-truck operation to $44,836 for a fleet of 1,001 or more. Brokers, freight forwarders and leasing companies with no vehicles of their own pay the lowest bracket.

What this fee is not
UCR is one federal fee, paid once a year through a single filing. It is not your apportioned plate: IRP registration is charged separately by each state you run in, based on the miles you drive there, and is usually much larger. It is also not IFTA, not your USDOT or MC filing, and not your state's own intrastate registration. A carrier that owes UCR almost always owes several of those too.
Where these figures come from
Both tables are the fees as adopted in federal rulemaking, read from the published text: 49 CFR 367.50 and the 2027 final rule. Federal regulations and the Federal Register are works of the US Government and in the public domain. Confirm your own bracket and pay through the official system before the deadline; we are not affiliated with the UCR Plan.
